As the Brown | RISD Dual Degree Program celebrates its 16th year, members of the BRDD community are invited to submit to the annual Dual Degree Exhibition. Each year, the Exhibition Committee chooses a cloud of ideas for the exhibition to explore. Your work doesn’t have to correspond directly with these words, but should address related concepts:

Intimacy - Access, touch, desire, relationships, sentimentality, nostalgia, hesitation, anticipation

Materiality - craftspersonship, collaboration, rawness, honesty of material

Sap - Fluid, labor, patience, time, process

Feel free to submit work in any medium. We would especially love to see 3D work of all types (sculpture, apparel, furniture, industrial design, interior architecture, etc.); film, animation, and video; performances; zines and artist books; and work by students graduating this spring.

Please submit work even if you're:

  • Not sure it's a perfect match for the themes (the jury considers them broadly)
  • Not sure how you’ll install or transport it to Granoff (if your piece is selected, we'll work with you on this)
  • Stressed about writing an artist statement (we just ask for a short draft, which you can revise later)
  • Still working on it (we’re happy to consider works in progress)

The priority deadline for submissions is Thursday 11/9/23. The final deadline for submissions is Wednesday 11/15/23 at 12pm ET.
